I have excellent news for you guys!! Variety is reporting Rene has joined the cast of “Thor” to play Frigga, the mother of Marvel Entertainment’s hammer-wielding Norse hero, now stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Rene Russo, Jaimie Alexander, Colm Feore, Samuel L. Jackson, Stellan Skarsgard, Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson, Tadanobu Asano, Idris Elba, Joseph Gatt and Kat Dennings.
Kenneth Branagh is helming the actioner that starts lensing in January and stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor. Paramount will release the pic on May 20, 2011.
As the wife of Norse god Odin, to be played by Anthony Hopkins in the film, Frigga is the queen of Asgard. She’s also the mother of Thor and Loki, the pic’s primary villain, portrayed by Tom Hiddleston.
Plot Summary: Marvel Studios expands its film universe with a new type of superhero: Thor. This epic adventure spans the Marvel Universe; from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
Thor starts shooting in January for a May 20, 2011 release.

On November 6th, Rene and Pierce Brosnan met up at the Peace Over Violence’s 38th annual Humanitarian Awards at Beverly Hills Hotel, 10 years after starring together in “The Thomas Crown Affair” they looked so lovely when hugged each other!
